University Recreation offers dynamic personal training services to meet any fitness goal. Let our nationally certified personal trainers provide the guidance, structure and accountability to help you improve your health and reach your ideal fitness.
How to Get Started with Personal Training
First time training with UREC?
Complete the New Personal Training Client Packet. (Please note that if you answer “Yes” to any of the questions on the “PAR-Q” form, you will be required to obtain a physician’s note clearing you for exercise).
Next, purchase your sessions!
Personal Training packages can be purchased online at our UREC Shop. If you do not have valid credentials to purchase online, please contact the Membership Office at 205-348-5140.
Show Up
After you have purchased your sessions, you will be contacted by Fitness Services and your personal trainer to schedule your first meeting.

Body Composition Assessment
A Bod Pod is an assessment of body composition through the use of air displacement. The Bod Pod is a non-invasive procedure that requires the individual to sit quietly for approximately 45 seconds in a specially designed chamber.
The Bod Pod is one of the most accurate measures of body composition that provides a breakdown of your body fat and lean muscle mass. Once purchased, you will be contacted by our team with specific instructions for the day of your test.

Custom Monthly Workout Program
UREC members can purchase a fully customized 4-week workout program, designed specifically for their fitness goals, level, and available equipment by one of our nationally certified Personal Trainers.
This package includes:
- 4 meetings with a trainer
- A personalized fitness assessment at the Student Recreation Center
- A detailed workout plan tailored to your needs
Perfect for individuals who are self-motivated and enjoy working out independently, this program provides the structure and support to help you succeed on your fitness journey.
Student rate – $80
Non-Student rate – $90
