The Witt Center Climbing Wall boasts a 35 foot wall and 42 foot tower that offers bouldering, top rope and lead climbing. University Recreation also hosts an annual climbing competition. Membership or a day pass are required after your first free climbing session.

The first visit to the climbing wall is free. After the first visit, members can select a semester, month or day pass option. All memberships include free shoe rental.
Climbing Wall Group Rental Rates

Membership Classifications
- Bouldering/Auto belay – No testing required!
- Top Rope – Complete a Belay Skills Verification Test every semester
- Sport Lead – Complete a Lead Skills Verification Test every semester

Top Rope
This course covers a basic understanding of top rope belaying. By taking this course, you will be taught industry-standard top rope belay fundamentals and techniques as well as the necessary knots and commands to climb at the Witt Climbing Wall.
Lead Climbing Belay Class
Our Lead Climbing Belay Class provides you with a foundation for the sport of lead climbing. Instructors will guide you through industry-standard belaying techniques, the importance of rope management, and proper lead climbing communication.

Climbing Competition
The 18th Annual T-Town Pull Down Climbing Competition returns February 2026! Join us for a full day of friendly but fierce competition at the Robert E. Witt Student Activity Center on The University of Alabama campus.
The climbing competition will open December 2025.
